Introduction of the department:

The Department of Mathematics at Dr. Ghali College, established in 1995-96 and TY(Mathematics ) is started in 2016 and it is one of the strongest academic department at the college. Since mathematics plays such a key role in the physical, biological, and social sciences, the Calculus courses are useful to students who plan careers in these areas. The Department of Mathematical Sciences has been participating in teaching at undergraduate level in a diverse range of mathematical topics for BSc students. The Department of Mathematics currently offers 3 year Bachelors in Mathematics program & followed CBCS and NEP system .

The goal of the Mathematics department is to nurture young talents, to focus on standards, assessment and outcomes, and to ensure that all students learn in a more powerful way. The department caters to B.Sc. Mathematics and is continuously upgrading itself according to the changing curriculum and needs of the time of Annual to Semester to CBCS systems and now NEP. Despite limitations of resources, the collective efforts of students and teachers have delivered wonderful results.

Objectives of the Department:

1.Provide students with definitions of fundamental concepts and the major theorems of the core areas of undergraduate Mathematics.

2.Develop students’ ability to construct mathematical proofs.

3.Train students to formulate and evaluate the feasibility of a problem solving strategy.

4.Develop students’ ability to communicate mathematical results in written and oral forms.

5.Train students to design and implement algorithms for solving real-life problems.

Department Achievements:

1.Miss SarikaNilambol got First rank in Shivaji University Kolhapur Merit List at B.sc in year 2012 and in year 2014, she secured second rank in M.Sc.

2. Miss.TejaswiniGangaramShinde got Third rank in Shivaji University Kolhapur Merit List and first rank in subject Mathematicsin Shivaji University Kolhapurin year 2020 .

3.Mr. PundalikShivajiPatil qualified IIT JAM Exam-2021 in Mathematics.

4.Miss. Swati Mahadev Mane got Fourth rank in Shivaji University Kolhapur Merit List and first rank in subject Mathematicsin Shivaji University Kolhapur in year 2021.

5. In year 2021,Miss. Swati Mahadev Mane ,Mr. PundalikShivajiPatil, Miss. KomalJaganathKapase and Miss. ArchanaAppasahebKurade got first, second,nineth and fourteenth rank respectively in M.Sc Entrance exam conducted by Shivaji University Kolhapur.

6. In year 2023,Miss. ArchanaAppasahebKurade,Miss. Swati Mahadev Mane and Mr. PundalikShivajiPatil got respectively first ,third and tenth rank in Shivaji University Kolhapur Merit List of M.Sc Mathematics.

7. Miss. SarikaMagdum(Bsc-II) selected for Summer Research Fellowship in Mathematics.

8. Mr. PundalikShivajiPatil and Miss. SiyaliGopalkrishnaBarde quality SET exam which conducted in March 2023.

9 Miss. ArchanaAppasahebKurade qualify NET exam which conducted in December 2023.

2. Admission for Ph.D in SavitribaiPhule Pune University,Pune in August-2022.

3. Published two research papers.

4. Attended international and national conferences and seminars and presented several research papers.

5. Financial sanction Rs 70,000/- for research project titled as “Generalization of some Integral and Discrete Inequalities” under Diamond Jubilee Research Initiation Scheme by Shivaji University Kolhapur in the year 2023.
